Strategy 1: Select the information or summarize

It is not a good idea and also impossible to write down everything that the speaker says. Good note takers can recognize what is important and what is not.

Instructions:

- to only note down the most important information or to quickly summarize the information

- to leave out unnecessary words, such as articles, prepositions, relative pronouns, "to be", and other linking words.

- no need to write down complete sentences
